Because You Obey
Generations of believers have either risen or fallen under these words. Whether one will obey or refuse to obey will determine where they will spend eternity, it is the difference between a mere profession of faith and true justification. Much of the nation of Israel’s history is similar to the history of the Christian Church. Many in the Church today are professing to worship God, but are actually worshipping demons. Just as the nation of Israel plummeted into gross immorality and idolatry so has the modern Church at large! God calls His people to abstain from every form of evil! May every truly born again Christian be on their knees and ask the Lord for mercy towards our sin! The fall of Israel was caused by three things: the Church leaders had allowed a false image of God to be set up, the political authority was corrupt, and the people had turned a blind eye and were not interested in God. Apathy and idleness had gripped the people! But God in His mercy rose up godly King Josiah! He did what was right in the sight of the Lord and walked in obedience. Josiah responded to the magnitude of the errors of the Children of Israel. He himself was first convicted by the discovery of the Laws of God and he responded immediately because he believed it was true! His faith caused him to act. When a person does not act it is because they have no faith! According to the Bible there are only two groups of people: those that have faith and those that do not. Salvation begins with humility and faith. Without faith the Church will be desolate. To not obey the voice of the Lord means death. Where are you today? Will you obey the voice of the Lord?
