Because You Have Obeyed My Voice

Faith is the process of the transformation of our will. God desires to give us abundant life and becomes displeased when one stops believing and becomes spiritually asleep and satisfied with fleshly appetites and desires. Greatness is measured by what extent one obeys the word of God. It is our will that must be changed, not the word of God. One must take in and obey God’s Word in order to be changed. If one desires to follow after Christ they must sacrifice their idols to God in exchange for eternal life. But this process of sanctification will stop where one’s love rests. The story of Abraham is a story of one who desires God above all things. He allowed God to change and mold his will until he was transformed into a man of faith. His will was constantly being hammered by God, but he obeyed the word of the Lord and denied himself through trials. Abraham after many trials of faith is asked to sacrifice the son of the promise, his answer determined whether sanctification would stop or continue in his life. One must daily surrender and obey the Word of God. Abraham does obey the call of God and his actions prove his faith. His faith in God is placed above thoughts, reason, and doubt. He trusts God and does not doubt His Word, and he is willing to sacrifice Isaac, the greatest earthly love he has. Abraham laid down his life, ambitions, and dreams to God. When one is willing to sacrifice our greatest love and stay in that place we will know God as Abraham knew God. To truly follow after Christ one must surrender their whole life and will to God and only take back what God sees fit to grant back to us. Those who obey this call, as Abraham did, will have eternal life.
