Peace, Be Still

Faith in Christ must remain simple. Christians are to continually trust in the providence of God. Jesus constantly warned about the dangers of getting so involved with the cares of this world that one loses their peace. He does not say be careless, but do not worry. Worry is a form of self-reliance. It comes from a lack of faith and trust in God. When the Devil came to Eve in the Garden he deceived her into thinking she could take command of her own life and still keep her peace. But by sinning she lost the peace and rest of God. All generations since have tried instead to change their own world in their own way instead of repenting and turning to God to restore this peace. Today the world has become full of fools who claim there is no God and worship the creature instead of the Creator. During His earthly ministry Jesus left towns and villages because of unbelief. Unbelief and contempt of Christ drive Him out of the heart, but faith is the way to put the power of God into the hands of humans. The power of faith is only limited by unbelief. God requires faith. All things are possible to him who believes. When one trusts Christ with every area of their lives the Kingdom of God is planted within, the very thing Eve lost in the Garden. Following her lead mankind today thinks it is god. Yet the human race is spiritually bankrupt, concerned, troubled, and anxious. God used to be the captain but now man is running the ship alone. Mankind has lost its way trying to find ways to gain peace and rest but will never find it without beginning with repentance and faith. Only Christ can command the waves to be still, not man.
