The Face of Jesus Christ

What is the image of God and what is not the image of God? During the time of the earthly ministry of Jesus it was clear that the hypocritical religious system of the Pharisees was not the image of God. The image of God is not a religious system, it begins on the inside when a person comes to Christ by faith. Religion puts a veil over the eyes of people that Christ came to take away. When one is born again the Holy Spirit is born in a person and they love God and keep His commandments. In order to come to Christ one must have a strong desire, they must hunger and thirst for righteousness and be empty of self. God knows what each of His followers need in order to be sanctified, but one must first be regenerated. When one comes to Christ sorrow leads them to repentance, not pride, arrogance, and selfishness. A person must be cleansed of sin by the blood of Christ in order to become a Christian, but if a person refuses to repent they will never be forgiven of their sin. All followers of Christ must be diligent to obey Christ every day and never allow the Gospel to be veiled. Christians are earthen vessels, the power belongs to God alone and by His help alone can a Christian grow in Christlikeness. The face of Jesus is in a believer who reflects the glory of God. As one walks in obedience to God righteousness will be fulfilled in them and they will become like Christ. It is an ongoing transformation by faith. God begins, develops, and perfects each believer through the Holy Spirit. God does His work through daily purification. Christians must not lose heart, it is done a little more day by day as one obeys and applies what the Lord is teaching them.
