But Will God Indeed Dwell Upon the Earth?

From the dawn of creation it is clear from the Scriptures that the place that God dwells is not in a building. God put His Spirit in Adam and Eve, and when they sinned they lost His Spirit and they tried to cover themselves. To this day people try and cover themselves with religion, and often it is through going to some kind of religious building. The Temple that stood during the time of Christ was built by King Herod and represented the corrupt Jewish religious system of the time. Salvation is not found in a Church, God commands that we surrender ourselves over to Him so that we may be cleansed and full of His presence. The ungodly oppose this message. The focus of religion during the time of Christ was the Temple, and Jesus said it would be destroyed, and they hated Him for it. Mankind has always been prone to worshipping a building, but God does not dwell in buildings made by human hands, He dwells in people! The command of God was that there must be no other gods before Him and that His people must obey His commandments so His Spirit dwells within. History has shown that people build places of worship and the building becomes the focus and people begin to lose sight of the fact that God wills to dwell in them! This was true during the time of King Solomon in Israel. King Solomon did not obey God, nor did he keep God’s commandments during his reign, yet his focus was on a building and he lost sight of the fact that God’s Spirit had departed from him. God dwells with those who are one with Him on earth, not in temples made by human hands. Christians are the temple of God, mankind was never meant to focus on a building but rather on the heart.
