We Hid Our Faces From Him
In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve were clothed with the presence of God, covered in His glory and honor. They were commanded not to use their minds to determine what was right or wrong but to simply obey what God had commanded them. As long as Adam obeyed he was perfect and full of God all the time, but as soon as he disobeyed he hid from Him. When Adam and Eve ate the apple they tried to hide and solve the problems on human terms, their eyes were open to the desperation of their own situation and they immediately began to suffer. All that is wrong with the world today is because of sin. Sin has prevented the glory of God from covering the earth, even the Church has been corrupted. The world today shows contempt for the commands of God and the nations of the earth have rejected Him and hidden their faces. God desires our hearts, our all, every part of our life to be given over entirely to Him. Sin must be killed within, along with the desire for the right to ourselves. We must be made holy, we must persevere and allow the image of Christ in us to be worked out, and we must allow our inner conscience to be cleansed by the Holy Spirit. Unlike our first parents we need to realize that God determines good and evil through His Word. King Josiah of Judah gives an example for us to follow. He heard the Word of God and responded, doing everything he could do so the image of God may be restored. He was willing to be used by God and did not hide his face. He realized the image of God had been marred and did all he could to restore it, and revival was the result. May we seek God as King Josiah did!
