The Law of Life

In these verses Paul speaks of the Law of Life. There are many laws which govern the universe, but this law stands above all the others. Set before each person is the Law of Life and the Law of Death. It is Christ who brings life, and it is sin that brings forth death. It was the serpent who told Eve in the garden that she would not die if she broke the law of God, but this was not the truth. It is only those that are righteous through the enablement of the Holy Spirit that keep the Law of Life. God desires to have a restored relationship with His people but so many refuse. Christ gave the example by living the Law of Life as He walked on the earth obeying God the Father and loving others. The Law of Life is based on love, it is a moment by moment walk in the Spirit by the Grace of God living in freedom from sin. But tragically so much of the Church has failed to live and preach the Law of Life. The only way one can live this Law of Life is by the Holy Spirit, and only those that are born again and transformed from within can be free from the Law of Sin and Death to live this Law of Life. When a person is born again they must learn to live according to this new life. If a person accepts the Law of Life they must allow the Holy Spirit to prepare them for eternal life, to make them holy, to free them from the lusts of the flesh. Pardon is not freedom, the old must be done away with and all rights to self, and love of the world must be put to death. The true Christian must die to self and be made holy through active repentance, setting their minds on things above and living as Christ commands us to live. This is what it is to walk in the Spirit.
