Will You Really Follow the Lord Wherever He Goes?

In this portion of the Gospel of Luke one reads of rash impulses spoken by people in the crowd who were experiencing positive and exciting times during Christ's earthly ministry. But these phrases of commitment came out of a feeling of human emotion. There is a clear difference between someone who is awakening or excited about the things of God and someone who is willing to be changed by the Holy Spirit. One is sensual enthusiasm, the other is an actual transformation. Many people become conscious of their inward need for a Savior but will not allow their conscience to be changed by the power of God. It is not enough to become awakened, one must follow Christ and allow Him to change them. One cannot follow Christ unless they are born again and will to know Him more with each passing day, if not other things will come in and pull their heart away from. Christians are called to remain one with God and be living sacrifices. There must be a sacrifice of those who desire to follow after Christ, one must be willing to let go of what is less to embrace what is greater. One must be willing to see the “eternal weight of glory” and come to realize the things of this world are passing away. A Christian is one who goes on responding to the Holy Spirit living with a desire for more Christ-likeness. A Christian must desire holiness and move toward a singleness of mind and purpose. A Christian must be fruitful and steady in their walk with Christ, having conscience, committed faith, and called out of the world. Those in the Church must remain committed to Christ until the end, no looking back from the plow! Are you willing to continue following after the Lord?
