Doing the Will of God From the Heart

Paul concludes his letter to the Ephesian Church reminding them that they are saved by grace through faith. There is no hope of salvation unless one is born again and the Holy Spirit is birthed within. When one has truly been born again there is purity, holiness, and fellowship with God. There is freedom to serve God and not men, to live a life that is pleasing to God and not people. God calls the penitent to a life of holiness and separation from the world. He calls His people to “come away” with Him. The focus of the Christian must be to do the will of God and to love Christ above all other things, only then will our affections be put into the right order. The Christian is not to trust in themselves, but to trust in God in all activities and actions. The New Testament is clear that God offers grace to all, yet some receive this grace and some do not. When one has been freed of the penalty of sin through Christ they belong to Christ. The only way one can be forgiven is through the sacrifice of Christ, and when one is redeemed they must continue to live for Him. If one stops to live for Christ and takes their life back they are guilty. All Christians are called to die to sin. It is impossible for sin to reign in the moral bodies of those who have been redeemed and have been united with Christ! To identify with Jesus Christ is to live a life of holiness. To believe in Christ must always be present tense. Our purpose must be to do the will of the Father from the heart and become like Him through active participation in the covenant. The days on this earth have become very dark. All must live the gospel and do as Christ commands, putting faith into action.
