Going Forth Towards His Passion

This sermon shows the clear difference between those that are the true followers of Christ and those that are not. The eleven disciples with Christ had taken what Jesus had taught them and applied it to their lives, they had unity and fellowship with God and with one another, and they loved God and obeyed His Word. These were those that had been changed by the Holy Spirit of God. There is a clear difference between the true Disciples of Christ and the Pharisees, the Romans, and Judas, the disciple who had betrayed Christ. These people hated Christ and hated His followers as well. They were willing to betray Christ, whereas His true disciples would not betray Him. In John 17 Jesus prays only for those who have received His Gospel, not for those that had rejected the Gospel. He only prayed for those going with Him towards His passion, those who walked by faith and obedience to His teaching. In order to have a restored relationship with God it begins with repentance which results in regeneration, initial sanctification, and adoption. The life of a true disciple is then a life of faith and obedience. This is how God restores mankind to Himself. No one can make themselves better, only Christ can change the sinner from the inside out as they become the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Their will the same as the will of God. Many come to Church today and inquire of God but yet have no intention of obeying Him. These are the modern Romans, Pharisees, and false disciples like Judas. In order to be a true disciple of Christ one must make a covenant with God and live in fellowship with the true Church of Jesus Christ, going forward with Christ toward His passion.
