If Anyone Thirsts, Let Him Come to Me and Drink

This sermon calls everyone who hears to examine their opinion on Jesus Christ. It is clear that since Christ came He produced conflict between light and darkness. Some would receive Him, and some would not receive Him. Only those who receive Him as Lord and continue to walk by faith will be saved. Some follow Christ out of a drive for external excitement, looking at the Savior for what they could get out of Him, but when His call to holiness is heard they turn away as many did in John 6:66. We must beware of the murmurings of those around us, and ignore the voice of those who are turning away. We must pick up our crosses and follow after Him. We must put away all idols and trust Christ alone. Solomon was a man who had great knowledge and achievement. The United Kingdom of Israel reached its height under his rule as king, but he did not apply his knowledge. He began to drink from the polluted water of this world and eventually fell away from God, and looking back on his life he wrote that all was “vanity.” We must live in obedience to God, being merely religious is not enough! God demands that His Church is holy, living and obeying His Word. But sadly the sin of much of the modern Church is contempt for the Word. If anyone thirsts let them come to Christ and drink, not to religion, not to a Church, but to Christ. Jesus desires that a person would know Him through experience as an individual. Are you thirsty for God? Or are you standing against Him? Will you side with the Pharisees, or with the Disciples?
