The Folly of Refusing to Take God Seriously
This sermon is an urgent call for the Church to repent and for America to turn back to God. It is also a warning to those that are seeking for “signs,” “miracles,” and “gifts of the spirit” to study the Bible and come out of deception. There are too many people in America today that do not take God's Word seriously, too many that refuse to repent and would rather go on playing with sin. Looking into the historical context of Isaiah's time one can see many similarities to the situation that the Church in America finds itself in. This is a very serious time in our history and the moral and economic failure of America is a result of a people who have turned away from God. What is missing in most American Churches today is sincerity. To become a true follower of Jesus Christ one must repent and go on believing in Christ by faith allowing Him to purify us as one remains genuine, honest, and open. Tragically so often this is not the case, Bibles are left unread and people are not seeking for Truth. In Isaiah's day the prophet described the priests and prophets as being “intoxicated.” This is once again the reality of our time as so many modern priests and pastors refuse to submit to the authority of God's Word and would rather mix truth with their own philosophies or seek some kind of “higher revelation” and “signs and wonders.” In the world today much knowledge abounds but there is very little sincerity and obedience to the Bible. If one desires to know the Truth you must open up your Bible and study for yourself and build a foundation on Christ and the Bible. What God is looking for is humility and obedience in those who seek Him.
