Do You Want To Go Back To Egypt?
In this passage God is boldly declaring to the Children of Israel that their eternal destiny is hanging in the balances and their only hope is obedience to what He has commanded. God will either rejoice in His covenant people or rejoice in judgment. To the Christian the freedom of the Hebrews from Egypt is similar to the Christian being regenerated; both of them involve a covenant. But Israel broke the covenant and became slaves again. When people refuse the Gospel they remain slaves. The only answer is to repent and be changed by the grace of God. God has provided the propitiation for our sins in the person of Jesus Christ. Only through Christ can one be forgiven of their sins. Each regenerated Christian belongs to Christ; they are to live their life for Him and not for themselves. We are saved to be living sacrifices. If people think Christ came to make us anything other than His they are wrong. Self is no longer to be considered in the life of the truly regenerated Christian, yet a focus on self in corrupting so much modern “evangelism” and “missions work.” Christ came for the purpose of drawing all people to Himself but not all will submit to His rule and choose to remain in bondage. False religion leads people to “accept Christ” for their own benefit without any repentance. One must repent to be free and go on obeying Christ as He refines them and makes them holy. Many false teachers try to make people stop the transformation process, but if the “Christianity” that is being taught by them does not look like Christ it is not Christianity! You must seek Christ and nothing short of Him! Do not be satisfied with any religion that is not completely focused on Christ.
