Keep Yourselves in the Love of God
In these verses Jude warns of false and dangerous teachers as do Peter and Paul in their epistles. He encourages all Christians to “keep yourselves in the love of God” because Jesus Christ is preparing to return! All Christians are also commanded to be doers of the Word and not only hearers of the Word. Ones relationship with God can only be maintained while they remain rightly related to the message of the cross. Christians are commanded to “walk in love.” Through faith in the blood of Christ one is saved, but one never fully belongs to God until they lay themselves down upon the altar of the cross. And this is done through faith in Christ. All Christians must remember to consciously give themselves over to Chris and through our sacrificial lives God will build up the lives of others. God requires His love to be manifest in our redeemed lives. Christians are to be so consumed with God’s love they don’t even think about serving Him according to their own efforts but it happens naturally. We live in a time of the fulfillment of prophecy where fallen churches are breeding false prophets. A Church without the Holy Spirit is a fallen Church, and so is every denomination that begins to compromise or change God’s Word. These are motivated by lust and giving in to lust separates one from God and His true Church. They do everything for themselves and are selfishly motivated. Jude tells that the true sign that someone is a part of the body of Christ is their ability to edify others and is fully submitted to Christ. One must build upon the foundation that cannot be moved, Jesus Christ! Only He can keep us from stumbling. Have you been keeping yourself in the love of God?
