Equipped For Every Good Work
King Hezekiah was raised up by the Lord and was intensely aware that Israel was placed in the heart of Palestine in order to reflect the glory of God to a lost and non-believing world. In order to do this Hezekiah had obeyed the standards of the Lord. He had consecrated his life to the Lord’s sovereignty. And he was totally dedicated to serve the Lord. Hezekiah had allowed the Lord to become his standard. He received with gladness of heart the Word of the Lord and through daily application he was transfigured into a vessel for the Master’s use. Hezekiah saw God alone as superior and excellent. Hezekiah believed God’s Word as truth and practiced God’s Word in his life. He was equipped because he was doing God’s Word. In the same way every born again believer is a work in progress, a representation of God’s marvelous grace. The great commission given to Christians in the New Testament is to be an obedient bondservant. Christians are to be vessels of honor with loyal and undivided hearts. Hezekiah was a man who had been through many trials and tests, but through them he allowed God’s Word to be his guide. He had proved to have a loyal heart. Hezekiah had absorbed God’s Word and applied it to his life. He had obeyed God’s precepts and his eyes were opened to God’s truths. Hezekiah and all Christians must see themselves as pilgrims and that our home is in heaven. What is common to all bondservants of the Lord is that they are hungering and thirsting after righteousness. Hezekiah was totally dedicated to serve the Lord, and we must be as well, so we will be equipped for every good work.
