Steps Toward Heaven
Apart from faith there is no salvation. Faith results in justification, reconciliation, access, and hope. Faith in Christ is the only way our sin can be removed; it is the only form of reconciliation! Sin creates darkness and corrupts our hearts and minds, by faith one can overcome the sin in their lives. The Christian life takes place in three stages: justification, sanctification, and tribulation. Justification is by faith and comes before sanctification. Faith must extend into every aspect of a believer’s life; a sinner receives pardon through faith. Those who go on in faith remain justified. Only when one is regenerated by faith are good works produced. Works are the result of faith working in a justified believer, as one lives by faith they are made righteous. Christians are not ruled by sin! Righteousness is the result of living out our faith. Sanctification is when one is holy and is living their life for God in moral purity. It is those who present themselves to God! Without holiness no one will see the Lord. The Christian must look carefully and diligently to be sure they do not fall short of the grace of God. A person cannot be sanctified apart from experience; there must be Imparted Righteousness, and not Imputed Righteousness only. This comes through daily practice and application of God’s Truth. It comes through daily worship and obedience to God’s commands. It comes from God using tribulations to remove our carnal affections. God is looking for holiness and sanctification in His Church. A Church that is not holy is not God’s Church! Christ came to show the world what holiness looks like; sanctification is Christ-likeness!
