Never Stop Knocking
Christianity is a life that needs to be lived. God will continue to give believers strength as they depend on Him above everything. Abraham was a man who rightly related to God by faith and not by works. All of salvation is based on faith, and this faith will be tested as Abraham’s faith was tested. God continues to cause conflict within by the Holy Spirit in the process of getting the old nature to submit to God. Every believer faces this battle. The judgment of God brings us face to face with everything that is not like Him. Some try to bend and break God’s Law, Abraham did not, he obeyed God. When God calls Abraham He gives him both liberty and a command. He is free from self-reliance but commanded to rest completely in God. Many times in his journey of faith Abraham makes mistakes, he begins to rely on his old self again. Yet God continues to do a work in him. It is a danger for any believer to suppress the truth and trust in the world rather than God. Each believer needs discipline and correction for the mind to come into subjection to Jesus Christ. Abraham made mistakes but he kept going. Abraham was convinced that God was true and he remained loyal to Him. The life of a true saint is always dying to self but is never dead towards God. As he did this Abraham became more like God every day. He began to no longer think of his possessions as his own, and he trusted God with what seemed to be impossible promises. He walked by faith, and trusted God for all things, he took the lowest place and gave all glory to God. All true Christians must remain humble before God and continue to seek Him by faith and the Lord will open the door.
