Can These Bones Live?
This sermon is based on this question to the prophet Ezekiel, “can these bones live?” It is a strong call to heed the Gospel call before it is too late. Mankind without God is dry as the bones that Ezekiel saw scattered upon the field: powerless, unforgivable, and deplorable. The dry bones are a picture of how there is no way that anyone can live if they do not hear the word, obey the word, and live by the word. The modern Church is dry, lost, and cut off like these bones. God commands the prophet to preach the word so they may live, but they can only live by faith in Christ and obedience to the word preached to them. God will not reach out to an unwilling people; He will only work in the lives of people who have received the Holy Spirit. If one is willing to inquire of the Lord and seek the Lord they will find Him. But there is no hope for a Church that is unwilling to do so. Can these bones live? If they hear the word, receive it, and act upon it. This decision must be made now, if you are truly born again sin is not even an option. You will bear fruit and others around you will know that you are a Christian, that you are alive. There must be a baptism of death, you must be willing to die to self and allow the Holy Spirit to take over your life. If not you will remain dead, dry bones. Those that will have eternal life will be those who have life now through a relationship with God. In order for these bones to live they must say yes to the Gospel. One must repent and have a change of heart and mind about anything that does not line up with the Word of God. You must be baptized, show the fruits of repentance, and continue on in sanctification.
